Founded in 1956, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School is a 500-plus student coeducational program for nursery through Grade 8. In 2006, the school received approval to create a middle school and high school on approximately 9.25 acres located on Foxhall Road. The new Foxhall facility, housing a relocated Grades 7-8 program and a new program for Grades 9-12, will add an additional 320 students and 100 faculty and staff and will make St. Patrick’s the only coeducational Nursery – Grade 12 school, Episcopal or otherwise, located in the Nation’s capital.

Michael Winstanley Architects & Planners worked in association with SGH Architects and Barnes Vance on the master plan. The new campus includes Upper and Middle School Buildings, a Gymnasium and Atrium Lobby, Theater, Administration Building, Athletic Fields and underground parking for 170 cars.

With a total campus construction of over 180,000 GSF, the master plan seamlessly incorporates all of the up-to-date amenities with developments that promote environmental sustainability into a truly inspirational educational setting that offers a flexible approach to the curriculum and facilitates interaction, creativity and inquiry.

The new campus is located just a short walk from the existing lower school. The proximity along with the plan’s gabled red brick and metal roof buildings provides a close identification with the original campus while still allowing a distinctly different experience for the students from the lower school.
