The State of New York created Center for Environmental Sciences and Technology (“CESTM”) as a technology transfer facility. The CESTM facility houses laboratories, administrative offices, a business incubator, and the National Weather Service. Most of the research programs in the facility are dedicated to the investigations of the environment, including the nationally renowned Atmospheric Science Research Center.
Designed with an approach to environmentally sensitive architecture, the building incorporates one of the largest photovoltaic energy systems in the United States.
It has been featured in World Architecture magazine and has won a design award from the American Institute for Architects. Most recently, CESTM was awarded one of three national design awards from
Consulting-Specifier Engineer magazine for its innovation in architecture and engineering integration.
Michael Winstanley AIA AICP was the Design Principal for this project while he was a Vice President and Design Leader at Cannon Design.
